- History: Established in August 2012 & located in the heart of London’s Mayfair, Hedonism is a fine wine & spirits boutique which has already become the most talked about wine project of recent times. Hedonism was founded by the Russian mobile-phone tycoon Evgeny Chichvarkin and his CEO, Tatiana Fokina. Chichvarkin chose to set up a wine business because he was frustrated by the slow service he encountered from wine merchants. When he wanted a particular vintage of wine delivered, he was told he would have to wait a week or two. In any case, he was looking for something to do.
Yevgeny Chichvarkin does not agree that spending £120,000 on a bottle of wine is an absurd extravagance. As a matter of fact London has more multimillionaire residents than any other city in the world, according to analysis from WealthInsight. There are now more than 4,000 individuals in the capital with more than £20m each. With property prices in central London soaring, estate agents recorded that more than half of prime central London properties sold last year for more than £2m were sold to foreign buyers.
Yevgeny Alexandrovich Chichvarkin (Russian: Евге́ний Алекса́ндрович Чичва́ркин; born 10 September 1974 in Moscow) is a Russian entrepreneur who founded the largest Russian mobile phone retailer, Yevroset. Due to this business, he became the richest man under 35 of his country, with an approximatively $1.6 billion wealth. On August 2012 he launched his new wine store Hedonism Wines on London's Davies Street.
- Filosofy: The hedonistic way of thinking originated in the early Greek philosophic schools where it was believed that pleasure was the only intrinsic good. However, they firmly believe that there are many things which one should enjoy in life & with the word “hedonism” frequently used in tasting notes wine is certainly one of them. What better name for a shop which stocks the finest & rarest wines & spirits?
Being a team of perfectionists, they wanted to create the leading wine shop in the world and, as such, they have made no compromises in terms of quality. Their space is fully temperature & humidity controlled with heat free lights in order to keep the wines in pristine condition. However, please do not worry to keep warm you can wrap up in a nice throw & taste some exquisite fine wines from their Enomatic machines at their cosy tasting table.
- Tasting Wines by the Glass: Hedonism Wines is also home to six Enomatic sampling machines, allowing you to taste nearly fifty different wines at any one time. The range of wines is ever-changing and representative of the huge diversity available down at the store. While you can expect something different every time you visit, we will often have some of the world's most iconic bottles available to sample, with recent tastings including Mouton-Rothshild, Penfold's Grange, Sassicaia, Latour, Sine Qua Non, D'Yquem and Haut-Brion.
- Wine & Spirts List: The UK’s best buyers have sourced around 6,500 wines & 3,000 spirits, taking the crème de la crème from each region of the world whilst carefully checking the provenance of every bottle. They also have a large selection of the world's finest wines & spirits. From pre-prohibition Bourbons to pre-phylloxera Cognacs, from hard-to-find Napa Cabs to Sauternes from the 1800s, they strive to offer the rarest & best selection possible. The world's most expensive bottle of white wine the legendary Château d'Yquem 1811 from the comet vintage was sold by Hedonism Wines on 28 of Jun 2016.
From classics including the Macallan 1946 Select Reserve, Highland Park 50YO, Ararat Noyan Tapan 70YO & a magnum of Domaine de la Romanée Conti Romanée Conti 1966 to a vast collection of the outrageous & quirky Sine Qua Non, a complete vertical of Masseto, Torbreck The Laird 2006 in a spectacular 27-litre bottle & a whole host of old & rare liqueurs, gins & vodkas.
They are also delighted to offer guests the opportunity to sample nearly 50 wines on site using our 5 Enomatic machines. Tasting highlights in the past have included Screaming Eagle 2010, Latour 1996, 2002 & 2008, Lafite-Rothschild 1959 & 2004, Château Rayas 2005, Sine Qua Non Midnight Oil, Atlantis Syrah, B20, Sublime Isolation, Hoodoo Man & The Monkey, Masseto 1994 & 2002, Château d'Yquem 1981, 1983, 1999 & 2001, Gaja Barbaresco 1985 & many more.
- Tastings with the Producers: They also regularly host tastings with top winemakers & distillers giving guests a unique insight in the production, history & expertise in each & every bottle on their shelves. Over the years, they have been lucky to welcome some of the stars of the wine & spirits world to the shop & have hosted such tastings as Harlan Estate with Don Weaver, Screaming Eagle with Mary Margaret McCamic MW, Château Haut Brion with Prince Robert of Luxembourg, The Balvenie with Kirsten Grant, Dom Pérignon with Richard Geoffroy & Staglin with Garen & Shari Staglin.
- Staff and Personal Service: Each of their guests can expect to receive the very highest level of customer service from their edicated wine specialists, many of whom are former sommeliers from top Michelin starred restaurants. - Delivery: Should you wish your wine to be delivered to you either in London, the UK or overseas we will get it to you as quickly and carefully as possible. With deliveries within one hour in central London, our wine specialists are also available to come to you should you need their advice and expertise.
- Parking & Kids Area: Given that it might take some time to browse their entire collection, do not be afraid to bring your children with you as they can have fun the kid’s area. With parking always being a problem we have spaces for Hedonism Wines’ guests.

- What are your opening hours?: From Monday – Saturday, Hedonism Wines opens at 10am & closes at 9pm. On Sundays, the store opens at 12pm & closes at 6pm.
- Do you deliver?: They offer a free delivery service inside central London, a courier service across the rest of the UK & ship to dozens of countries around the world. Deliveries outside of the UK may be subject to local taxes, restrictions and tariffs. See our deliveries page for more information.
- How many different wines do you stock?: They currently stock over 10,000 different fine wines, whiskies & spirits.
- What is the oldest bottle of wine you stock?: They have a number of wines from the 1800s, including Chateau Lafite & Chateau d’Yquem, but the oldest bottle we have is a Vin Jaune from 1774.
- What is the largest bottle of wine you stock?: They have a broad selection of large bottles ranging from magnum (1.5 litres) to primat (27 litres). The large format range includes wines from all over the world including Classed-Growth Bordeaux, Grand Cru Burgundy’s & cult wineries from the New World.
- Do you sell gift cards?: Hedonism Wines gift cards can be issued at any value & are able to be redeemed against wines, spirits, accessories or used at their Enomatic tasting machines.
- Do you organise events?: They offer a bespoke events service which includes the use of our downstairs tasting area, optional catering and sommelier service. - Do you have any chilled wine at the store?: They always have a selection of chilled white wines, sake, and champagnes available at our Davies St store.
- Do you offer a wine storage service?: While their Davies Street store is temperature and humidity controlled, they are currently unable to offer a storage service for customers.
- Do you offer En Primeur services?: They do not currently offer En Primeur services for customers.
- Are there any wines available to taste at the store?: Their Davies Street store is currently equipped with state-of-the-art Enomatic tasting machines. These allow them to offer a constantly changing range of around 50 wines for customers to sample. Check out their wine tasting page for more information.
- You stock many fine and rare wines, are you able to provide provenance?: They are able to provide full provenance for their wines. If you have a question about a particular wine, please feel free to speak to a member of the Hedonism Wines team either over the phone or in person at our Davies Street store.
- Do have any foreign language speakers among your staff?: Their staff members speak over half a dozen languages between them including English, German, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, French, Portuguese & Italian.

MAYFAIR IN WEST END LONDON
Mayfair is an affluent area in the West End of London towards the east edge of Hyde Park, in the City of Westminster, between Oxford Street, Regent Street, Piccadilly and Park Lane. It is one of the most expensive districts in London and the world.
The area around Mayfair was originally part of the manor of Eia and remained largely rural in nature until the early 18th century. It became well known for the annual "May Fair" that took place from 1686 to 1764 in what is now Shepherd Market. The fair attracted an unpleasant, downmarket element and gradually became a public nuisance. The Grosvenor family, later to become the Dukes of Westminster, acquired land through marriage and began to develop on it under the direction of Thomas Barlow. The work included three major squares Hanover Square, Berkeley Square and Grosvenor Square, all of which were surrounded by luxury homes, and the church of St George Hanover Square.
By the end of the 18th century, most of Mayfair was built on with prestigious housing to suit the upper class; unlike some nearby areas of London, it has never lost its affluent status. The decline of the British aristocracy in the early 20th century led to Mayfair becoming more commercial instead of residential, with many former homes converted into offices for major corporate headquarters, embassies and other businesses. There remains a substantial quantity of luxury residential property, upmarket shops and restaurants, and modern hotels along Piccadilly and Park Lane in particular. Mayfair's prestigious status has been commemorated by being the most expensive property square on the London Monopoly board.
