The interior design was co-ordinated by Lucie, Paul’s wife and James’ sister, with an emphasis on the family’s love for all things alpine, the lifestyle, atmosphere and chic, to create a comfortable informal venue to enjoy either a glass of wine with friends, nibbles and drinks or a celebratory meal, pulling out all the stops. The restaurant offers classically cooked modern British and European cuisine, with a range of dishes to suit any occasion, from a quick bite to eat to a celebratory dinner. The downstairs bar offers a good range of wines by both the glass and bottle, alongside real ale, premium draught and bottled lagers and ciders. A selection of breads, nibbles and boards to share are also available in both the bar and restaurant for a lighter alternative. They also offer a good range of wines by both the glass and bottle, real ale, draught lagers.
Piste Wine Bar & Restaurant opened its doors on Tarporley’s bustling High Street after an extensive refurbishment of a building, the roots of which famously or infamously are set in wine, food and character. Piste is run by brothers-in-law James Hughes and Paul Bebe. Both have worked in hospitality from a young age. Paul found his passion for cooking at the age of sixteen and has developed his love for fresh quality ingredients ever since, both locally and in Covent Garden. James, having worked in the hospitality industry from the age of fourteen and gone on to study law at university realised that it was this industry that really inspired him. Offering a unique split level drinking and dining experience.
The family connection inspired a dream with a focus on quality, service and value. This is something that they strive towards at Piste and whether it be a glass of house wine, a pint of locally produced ale, a bottle of Bordeaux, homemade breads and olives at the bar or sirloin steak on the bone in their family restaurant or any combination of these they aim to provide a relaxed, enjoyable environment with an emphasis on value and quality. The products they sell are all individually selected and they try to source as locally as they can without compromising on quality. We have found specialist suppliers for their menu from England, Scotland and Wales and their wine list has been handpicked from around the globe. The team at Piste is made up of individuals who also have a flair and passion for food, drink and all things hospitality to help their customers enjoy their experience.
Urbina wines are a conjunction of grapes from Cuzcurrita de Río Tirón, on the north-western edge of D.O.C. Rioja, that produces wines with a great capacity for ageing, excellent for Grandes Reservas. They produce 400.000 bottles of Red Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva and 50.000 bottles of White and Rose derived from grapes of their own vineyards, cultivated using traditional techniques, harvesting by hand and avoiding the use of weed killers and pesticides. The vines grow bush and some are trained by cordon with controlled yields not exceeding 4500 kgrs/Ha. In the vineyard a respectful viticulture is applied using organic fertilization in order to keep soil richness and structure that will feed the vines from which we will produce the wine. During fermentation local yeasts are employed, which transfer to the wine a unique personality giving to Urbina its characteristic complexity.
