SPANISH WINES AT FAREHAM WINE CELLAR
Spain is the third largest wine producer in the world and is probably most famous for its red wines and Sherry. The three main quality red wine producing areas are Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Penedes, although there are now some great single estate wines (including members of the Grandes Pagos de Castilla such as Luna Beberide, Dehesa del Carrizal and Calzadilla from Bodega Uribes Madero) from less mainstream areas. Other red wine areas include Priorato, La Mancha, Toro, Valencia, Jumilla and Valencia. There are also some very good whites from areas such as Rueda and Albarino from Rias Baixas. Spanish wines are often a blend of indigenous and international varieties, the former include the varieties Tempranillo, Graciano, Mazuelo and Garnacha for the reds and Verdejo, Macabeo or Viura and Airen.
