The prestigious wine company Charles Mitchell of Manchester in the UK, returns to praise the excellence of the wines of Bodegas Urbina. The wine guru Chris Pacey and Director of the company, has decided to choose after several years of continuous tastings throughout Spain. A wine that he calls the One “Unico”, this wine selected by himself at the cellar, is the one that he likes the most, to be able to offer and recommend to his most demanding customers.
A wine with a cherry and brick color on the edge. The nose is complex, intense, fine and elegant, with aromas of ripe fruit compote, pleasant licorice, notes of pastry and herbs. In the palate is rich, creamy, with good acidity, sweet tannin, and gentle but persistent. With excellent balance and harmony of sensations. A wine to fall in love.

As for white wines she loves Sauvignon Blanc such as 2017 Pouilly Fume ‘Plaisir’ Domaine Pabiot and 2016 Louis Vavasour Reserve Sauvignon & 2017 Tarras Pinot Gris – very quaffable and great for any time. I also have found 2014 Rully ‘Les Cloux’ Le Manoir which is gorgeous.

Mere Court Hotel is located in the most desirable part of the Cheshire countryside and only 8 minutes from the Manchester Airport. It is set in 7 acres of grounds with lush landscaped gardens and a private lake, their 4-star country house hotel has been lovingly restored to an extremely high standard and features an AA Rosette Restaurant, award-winning Wedding Venue, Conference Centre and has been voted the Number 1 hotel in Knutsford on Trip Advisor.
The original house has individually designed and furnished luxury bedrooms, including two four poster suites, all with wonderful views across the beautiful grounds and the Lakeside rooms all have king size beds. At the bar they have a good choice of wines, beers, and spirits and the rooms are comfortable and warm. They also have host to a number of notable and famous guests like former US President Bill Clinton, Ruby Wax, Dawn French, Alan Titchmarsh and Spandau Ballet and also featured in Cold Feet!
The Mere Court Hotel was proud to host Pedro Urbina, a fourth generation winemaker and proprietor of Bodegas Urbina, for an exceptional wine dinner. The guest enjoyed a privileged access to the man behind these fantastic wines, who will showcase vintages dating back over 20 years. These was also paired with a unique menu. Urbina winery is a familiar exploitation, with four generations dedicated to the cultivation of their own vineyards, grapevines and to the production of wine. They have 75 Hectares of vineyard, which are cultivated in accordance with the traditional practices. The production is not forced, not exceeding 4.500 Kgrs./Hectares. The wines are mostly grapes proceeding from Cuzcurrita village, the most western zone of the D.O.C. Rioja, which produces wines with a great capacity of aging, suitable for the Gran Reserva wines.
EUROCAVE WINE COOLER AND CABINETS
Charles Mitchell Wines are the North West of England’s preferred supplier for Eurocave Wine Cabinets. Because wine stored properly tastes better. Eurocave UK has spent more than 15 years explaining to customers that all wine is stored at the same temperature. A common request made is “I need one for my red and one for my white”. Wine is only kept at different temperatures for service. Imagine you had a traditional cellar under your house, which is where you would keep your red, white, rosé, fortified and fizz. One room, one temperature. Hopefully, year round, the temperature would vary only a little and certainly in any given 24hrs it would remain virtually constant.
Wine is not nearly as fragile as many people believe. Wine is sent around the country in vans during the summer and winter, (though I’d discourage anyone from ordering wine for delivery in the height of the summer), it is flown around the world, sent on ships, it sits in retail and restaurant spaces for months. But in the end, wine stored properly tastes better. The gentle and slow maturation of fine wine created for aging delivers a complexity unachievable by any other method. Most of the world’s wine is produced to be, and is, drunk within 12 months, so unless you freeze it or heat it until the cork pops out, these wines do not require a perfect cellar.
If you do keep several or more cases of wine at home, and want to store your wine in a perfect cellar environment, you could consider a climate controlled Eurocave wine fridge. The Spiral Cellar is dug into the ground floor of a property and, much like a traditional cellar, uses the earth’s attributes and ventilation to create the optimum conditions for storing wine. The range of home wine cellars provides enough room for up to 1,900 bottles and the collection of trap doors offers something for every residence.
MANCHESTER
Manchester is a city and metropolitan borough in Greater Manchester, England. With a population of 545,500 (2017) it is the sixth largest city in the United Kingdom. It is fringed by the Cheshire Plain to the south, the Pennines to the north and east, and an arc of towns with which it forms a continuous conurbation. Throughout the Middle Ages Manchester remained a manorial township, but began to expand at an astonishing rate around the turn of the 19th century.
