CARTE DU VIN - WINES FROM QUALITY VINEYARDS
- About them: They pride themselves in offering a personal and friendly service in every area of their wine business. They are known for their wine events, selling bottles directly to the public and supplying smaller independent restaurants throughout the South of England.
- Their wines: They offer beautiful, rare wines from quality vineyards. They have individual wines from Europe and South Africa. In many cases they are the sole UK importers of the products they offer. Their stock is sourced with a genuine passion for wine and decades of experience.
- Story: Carte-Du-Vin was started by Torquil Jack and Marian Jack, as an exciting new venture in 2010. Their passion for wine goes back a long way and wine tasting has been a hobby that they enjoy on their travels. It all stemmed from numerous cycling holidays around the vineyards and wine regions in France, Spain and Portugal.
Now a days, they want their customers to share their passion and feel part of the wine discovery process. For example, one of their customers recommended them a Bordeaux producer and now it is one of the most recognised and best producers from the Languedoc Roussillon region in the South of France.
. Torquil Jack: Torq worked in the pharmaceutical industry in Hertfordshire for 30 years. In 2010 he and Marian set up Carte-Du-Vin with the specific aim of showcasing wines from small, passionate producers. His other interests include golf, tennis, allotment growing and foreign travel.
. Marian Jack: Marian has worked in accounts for many years and after leaving The Hampshire Chronicle in 2000, she set up her own accounting business - MJ Numbers. This has now metamorphisised into Magenta Accounts (in partnership with Keeley Cousens) and presently employs 8 people. Her interests apart from wine and business include village fund raising (Chairperson of the Micheldever Social Committee), water-colour painting and foreign holidays.

BUYING WINE ON THE INTERNET
Pros of buying wine on the Internet:
- Fantastic range
- Availability of mature wines
- Availability of classic wines no longer in the mainstream
- Door-to-door services
Tips for online success:
1. Buy from a reputable online supplier: Shop with an established retailer: preferably someone with a physical store as well as an online presence. Online customer feedback is worth checking out, too.
2. Call to check that your order has been received: This is a great way to ensure that not only has the supplier received your order and details, but also that what you ordered is available.
3. Confirm the shipping details: Confirmation of delivery times aside, there are often extra charges and/or taxes which are payable on delivery, so this is the ideal time to double-check exactly what you're up for.
4. Make sure that your order is traceable: Check with your online retailer about whether there is an order number and/or trace number that you can use to monitor the whereabouts of your delivery should it get lost or delayed. Often, you can follow the movements of your order online.
